Glow Skin & Spa is a boutique clinic located in Baldivis, WA. Owner, Katie combines her knowledge as a beauty therapist, nutritionist & naturopath to help our clients achieve life changing skin transformations. We are a small, close knit team dedicated to providing our clients with transformative skin results whilst also ensuring they feel cared for at each and every touch point.
2.What is your mantra for Glow Skin Spa?
Our mantra is that each and every client experiences The Glow Touch. Being present for our clients from the minute they walk in the door, flowing through to their treatment and every touch point in between.
3.How has dermaviduals assisted your business?
dermaviduals have been our choice of skin care since opening Glow in June 2020. In my 20 years as a beauty therapist, I have never come across a skin care line that uses the power of Corneotherapy and customisation to really target a client’s individual needs whilst treating the cause of their concerns.
Our clients love that our dermaviduals treatments and products are completely customisable, making them feel like we really get them, and understand their skin on a deeper level in order to provide them with the best strategy to achieve their skin goals. dermaviduals helps our clients to put their complete trust in us as skin therapists.
4.What sets your clinic apart?
What sets us apart is that all of our therapeutic skin treatments are intertwined with deeply relaxing spa elements to ensure our clients not only achieve their skin goals but also leave feeling deeply relaxed and cared for. In our busy, stressful world, these mindful elements are just as important as the skin results our clients desire.
5.How do you keep your staff motivated?
I could not run a successful business without my amazing team. Their health and wellbeing is so important to me and I want them to feel appreciated at all times. We have regular staff bonding days, from pampering to cocktail making classes which are always super fun. Family is also really important to me. With two young girls myself, I always ensure my staff have the work / life balance that works for them.
And chocolate…there is always chocolate in the staff room!
6.What are your most popular treatments?
Our most popular treatments are definitely our Bespoke Facials. Each facial begins with a thorough skin consultation. Being a qualified Nutritionist and Naturopath, I also provide my clients with an internal skin check where we discuss gut health, mental health, hormones and immune function, as each and every one of these plays an important role in your skin’s health. Not to mention the divine face, neck & shoulder, hand, foot and scalp massages that all of our facials include.
7.How has technology influenced the salon?
Technology in the beauty industry has definitely changed a lot in my 20 years as a therapist. With devices like the Exceed Skin Needling device and Dermalux LED, we have been able to take our clients skin journey to the next level, helping them to achieve their desired results so much faster.
8.What are the challenges of running a salon?
Running a business definitely takes a lot of time and commitment. I think one of the biggest challenges is not taking on EVERYTHING as the owner and allowing your staff to take on more responsibilities (having the right team is key!). Finding your dream team can also be very challenging but once you do, everything else just falls into place.
9.What do you think is the secret to running a successful salon business?
Oh wow, so many elements go into running a successful salon however for me, there are two that really stand out. Number one, is having an amazing team that not only has a passion for the industry but also fits into your salon’s core values. Number two, would be treating each and every client like your best friend or your mum. Giving your clients 110% at each and every visit.
