1.Tell us about your clinic, staff and local area.
My home-based beauty salon is set in a quiet street in the heart of the beautiful Sunshine Coast of Queensland I have taken such pride in creating a very private space for clients to unwind and escape the hustle of everyday life.
Since opening in late 2019, my salon has quickly grown as word of mouth moves fast 😉 I believe taking an inside and outside approach to correct underlying skin issues is so important and the key to success with results.
2.How has dermaviduals assisted your business?
It really was the missing piece of the puzzle for my salon. I searched for a brilliant range, unique from the rest, for quite some time before I came across dermaviduals which led me to study Corneotherapy; it was like a lightbulb moment for me. It aligned with my beliefs of respecting the skin and its function. I trialled the products myself and saw incredible changes in my own skin in such a short period of time. Having the powerful chemistry right in the palm of my hands daily has not only given me, but also my clients, some amazing results with their skin and through that I believe my business has grown greatly.
3.What is your favourite dermaviduals product and why?
What a tough question! I would have to say Suusmoon Lotion N. This product gives your skin that inner healthy glow, not to mention the incredible ingredients list!
4.How do you keep your staff motivated?
I am a solo salon! I motivate myself through just a pure love and passion for skin health education. I believe knowledge is power and I love to learn! I dedicate time each week to education – whether that’s just refreshing my knowledge with the dermaviduals range or diving deeper into skin conditions.
5.Do you have any advice for other salon owners?
Your clients are your business, so make them a priority. Set the ambience in your treatment room perfect – make it a space they walk into and just sigh with relief that they are there…..cleanliness, aromas, comfort, finishing touches – make them perfect 🙂
7.What has been your most memorable career moment so far?
I would have to say being recognised as salon of the month actually! 💕💕💕 Having worked for other salons for over 10 years, I was nervous to take the plunge and do it on my own, so to be recognised and acknowledged for the hard work is humbling.
8.What are your 3 top tips for beauty professionals thinking of going into their own business?
- Go into it for a love ❤️ of the industry and what you do, not for the pay cheque.
- Have a clear business plan and strategy before you even consider launching.
- Continue to educate yourself to grow as a therapist.
