Jemma Moran, owner of FUTI SKIN, talks all things family, work and dermaviduals.
How long have you been in business and what drew you to the beauty industry in the first place?
I have been in the skin industry for 12 years and have owned FUTI SKIN for 2.5 years after returning from London. Skin and make up have always been my passion since I was a teenager. As I always did everybody’s make up, I couldn’t stand putting make up on terrible skin….. Hence the need to fix it!
What do you value the most in your business?
I value Jess Drake who works for me, she is a breath of fresh air and makes every day enjoyable and stress free. And obviously my wonderful clients, as without them we wouldn’t be in business.
How do you find the right balance between your personal and professional life?
That is something I’m forever working on. Work becomes very addictive especially when it’s your passion so I try very hard to allow time for Molly (my daughter) and I don’t work weekends so I can spend time with my family. Taking on Jess (2 years ago) has helped that significantly
How has dermaviduals assisted your business?
I worked in a leading skin clinic in London for many years which is where I learnt all about dermaviduals. As I am trained to be completely results driven in my business, dermaviduals assists me to make that happen for clients.
What attracts you to the Dunedin area?
I am from Dunedin and my parents live here so it’s great help with kids 😉 It makes my business work well with family support.
What keeps you inspired professionally?
When I have long term clients, when I get such good results, it inspires me more with every new client walking through the door. I also am very inspired by Donna Glazer who owns Face It in London. She is an amazing educator and mentor. She is always ahead of the game and into everything new and exciting. I spend a lot of time skyping her for inspiration to help my business.

Do what you are passionate about!
New products and equipment enter the beauty industry almost daily. How do you keep up with this and how do you determine what is hype and what is genuine?
By doing my own research on equipment and talking through everything with Donna.
