Is Your Skincare Getting To Where It Needs To Go?

Posted: 28 June 2019 by Annemarie O'Donnell

Have you ever wondered how products get to exactly where they’re needed in your skin or if they are actually delivered to where they’re needed? Dr Hans Lautenschläger and his team at our German aseptic laboratory have designed a revolutionary way of making sure your skin gets the nutrients it needs from our skincare. Let’s break it down:

The function of your stratum corneum (skin barrier) is to protect what lies beneath it – a complex network of cells and systems, that needs to be strengthened at all times in order to retain what the skin requires nutritionally and to keep other foreign particles out. dermaviduals’ creams contain patented technology, DMS (Dermal Membrane Structure) which mimics the composition and structure of the stratum corneum.

You can learn more about DMS here, but basically, DMS ensures the maintenance of the natural skin barrier; it effectively supports the prevention of premature ageing and above all, it is focused on creating and maintaining skin health. DMS assists in strengthening the structure and function of the cell membranes and the bilayers of the skin and is able to promote healthy, stronger and more refined skin.

The highly specialised technology utilised by dermaviduals enables the production of these revolutionary skin mimicking creams. Due to the use of a ground-breaking engineering process, the range does not require the use of emulsifiers as a binding agent. Emulsifiers are often used in conventional skincare to bind water and oil together but unfortunately, they can build up within the skin and dissolve natural lipids as they come into contact with water. This, in turn, can leave the skin compromised and prevents the absorption of nutrients.

The advantage of our unique concept is that it is designed to act as a base to which your skin treatment therapist can add a range of specific serums suited to any skin condition. Gone are the days of a blanket approach to skin care. With over 40 serums to choose from, each has its own function. Importantly, the active agents within these serums are encapsulated in liposomes or nanoparticles. These fuse with the barrier layers of the skin enabling penetration of the active ingredients. Once released, these actives permeate through the skin barrier, in its most pure form, providing the most accurate and responsive delivery system.

If you’re not a dermaviduals user, ask your skin treatment therapist how your skincare’s delivery system works, after all, knowledge is power!
