Oxidative Stress & Your Skin

Posted: 12 January 2019 by dermaviduals

Oxidative stress is one of those things that will affect your skin to some extent, no matter what you do, but we’re happy to report that we can help you to prevent and combat it. Not sure what oxidative stress is, don’t worry, we have your back!

Oxidative stress occurs when free radical production is higher than your body can effectively process to detoxify their destructive effects.

Free radicals are created in your body from a range of things such as consuming alcohol & excessive junk food, smoking, and exposure to pollution & the sun. Some of these things are in our power to control our intake/exposure, but some are just part of life.

When these free radicals are combined with oxygen, they become your skin’s enemy. Free radicals detract from healthy cells, causing premature ageing.

It is a bit of a downer that we can’t always prevent oxidative stress, but the good news is, we can help you to manage it. To combat the effects of free radicals antioxidants must be vital inclusion in your skincare regime and diet. Skincare ingredients such as the following are great antioxidants to help your prevent and combat oxidative stress:

  • Vitamin A
  • Vitamin C
  • Vitamin E
  • Co-Enzyme Q10
  • Green Tea Extract
  • Grape Seed Extract
  • Laminaria Digitata

Our leave-on vitamin masks (DMS Mask with Vitamins and Vitamin Cream Masks) are perfect to provide your skin with essential antioxidants, whilst strengthening your skin barrier. Packed with skin loving and protecting ingredients, such as Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Vitamin E and D-Panthenol, free radicals, beware!

If you haven’t had a skin analysis recently, now is the perfect time to check in with your skin treatment therapist – most of us are coming out of a holiday period of enjoying the sunshine and maybe a little over-indulgence in food & drink (no judgement here) and our skin certainly starts to feel these effects!

Thank you for the sensible critique. Me & my neighbor
were just preparing to do some research on this. We
got a grab a book from our area library but I think I learned more from this post.
I am very glad to see such great information being
    shared freely out there.

I?m impressed, I must say. Seldom do I come across a blog that?s equally educative and engaging, and without a doubt, you
have hit the nail on the head. The issue is an issue that not enough
people are speaking intelligently about. I am very happy
that I found this in my search for something
    relating to this.
