The Clear Skin Expert is a boutique, holistic clinic located in a heritage listed building at the top end of Collins Street, Melbourne that specialises in the internal and external resolution of acne, rosacea, dermatitis and sensitive/reactive skin conditions.
Asha Evertsz (pictured above) is the Principal Therapist, a Naturopath and Corneotherapist. After successfully overcoming cystic acne that affected her for ten years, Asha decided to create a space for those seeking safe, natural and evidence-based support for their skin concerns. As well as tailoring the dermaviduals range with great success, they utilise herbal medicine, nutritional medicine, lifestyle techniques and pathology testing. Asha chatted to us about all things skin…
Natalia is their gorgeous front of house angel and makeup expert. She has a Graduate Diploma in Nutrition and is currently studying to become a Doctor of Medicine. Emily is also front of house at The Clear Skin Expert as a clinical assistant, and is also a qualified Naturopath. All staff have been trained by dermaviduals. “We are really big on education and enjoy sharing our knowledge with our clients over a cuppa. We love to have fun, and making our clients giggle is our main priority!”
What keeps you inspired professionally? “I am very passionate about empowering people to resolve their skin concerns, whilst improving their health issues along the way. I am on a mission to provide alternatives to Roacutane, antibiotics and oral contraception as a band aid approach to skin issues.
What I really love, is inspiring my beloved clients and giving them hope that they can go from loathing their skin to LOVING their skin.”
Asha loves changing peoples lives! “It is what I get out of bed for in the morning. I wouldn’t have any other job in the world. I get to work with the most exceptional staff and am so grateful for the vibe in this clinic. It is my second home, and sacred space. My clients inspire me every day, and I have the privilege of working with THE most gorgeous humans.”
How has dermaviduals assisted your business? “dermaviduals has been the perfect match for the way that I practice. I would never use anything else in my clinic. The education has been life changing and I love that after 18 months I am still continuously learning and fine tuning the way that I prescribe these products. I often see very severe cases of skin conditions, and have seen miraculous transformations with the use of this therapeutic range. Knowing that it is pure of nasties is really important to me and my clients.”
What is your favourite dermaviduals product and why? “Wow this is a tough question!! At the moment, I would have to say Peeling Cream. Due to the hot weather, and build up I can see in the skin at this time of year, I know that Peeling Cream will leave the skin feeling smooth, clean and yummy. An instant pick me up!”
What is your number one skin care tip? “Sleep, water and dermaviduals. Haha that is 3 isn’t it!”
New products and equipment enter the beauty industry almost daily. How do you keep up with this and how do you determine what is hype and what is genuine? “I am incredibly discerning and understand that most of these trends are marketing hype. I think once you understand the principles of Corneotherapy, it is fairly easy to make decisions around what will help or hurt the skin. One of my biggest bug bears is the concept that all ‘natural’ and ‘organic’ products are skin friendly. I am pretty strict in my clinic, clients aren’t allowed to use anything except dermaviduals whilst working with me to achieve their goals. There is definitely a place for equipment, but it must be only used in qualified and capable hands.”
Asha is passionate about empowering and educating people about skin. “I would encourage anyone suffering from acne to listen to my podcast interview here. This will equip you a much deeper understanding of the causes and how you can seek effective help.”
